CityInSight is a data visualization tool used for Saskatoon’s Climate Change Mitigation Business Plan. You can use the tool to get a better understanding of the projected emissions across the city, and you can change certain variables for your own analysis and research.

The CityInSight tool forecasts potential energy use and related GHG emissions for the years between 2016 (the baseline) and 2050, based on two scenarios: Business-As-Planned (BAP) and Low Carbon (LC).

The Business-As-Planned (BAP) Scenario evaluates energy use and emissions production across the city given current, planned and funded policies and actions by municipal, provincial and federal governments.

The Low Carbon Scenario (LC) evaluates energy use and emissions production considering the energy and emissions reduction potential of 40 City and community actions. The LC was informed by community conversations, a consulting team, and meetings with City of Saskatoon divisions.

You can choose from five different information projections to compare the BAP and Low Carbon Scenarios:

  1. Emissions
  2. Energy Use
  3. Passenger Transportation
  4. Urban Form
  5. Energy Flow

You can change several variables to assess energy and emissions:

  1. specific year, between 2016 – 2050
  2. A single scenario (BAP or LC), or both scenarios
  3. the five projections

For each projection, you can view three or more visuals – charts and maps. You also have the option to export or save the data to create your own visuals.
